Answers to the questions that come up most often before a first mandate. If
yours isn't here, write to us at
contact@altimetrix.ca or book a call.
Does a drone replace a land surveyor or an engineer?
No. We deliver raw, georeferenced data that's precise and usable, but we
don't sign surveying plans or professional seals. Your surveyors and
engineers remain responsible for validation and technical decisions; we
simply remove the longest part of their job, field data collection.
What happens if weather prevents a scheduled flight?
The flight is rescheduled at no charge to the first available weather and
airspace window, usually within a few days. We check conditions up to 24
hours before every mission and notify you as soon as a reschedule is
needed, rather than waiting until the day of.
Do you operate in winter and in extreme cold?
Yes. Our aircraft and our Advanced RPAS-certified pilots are equipped for
winter operations. Cold and snow can sometimes limit the precision of
terrain models under snow cover; we flag that to you before the flight
if it applies to your mandate.
Who owns the captured data (photos, point clouds, models)?
You do. All raw data and all processed deliverables (orthophotos, point
clouds, 3D models, reports) belong to you as soon as they're delivered.
They also remain archived in your client portal for future reference.
Do you serve job sites outside Capitale-Nationale?
Our primary service area is Capitale-Nationale. We take on mandates in
Chaudière-Appalaches on request, depending on availability and distance
to the site. Write to us with the job site location to confirm coverage.
How far in advance do you need to book a flight?
For a flight in CYQB controlled airspace, plan for a few business days
for the NAV Drone request, notice to the prime contractor, and CNESST
coordination. Urgent mandates are possible; mention it as soon as you
reach out.
Are your deliverables compatible with our existing software?
Yes. We export in the open and proprietary formats most used in
construction: .IFC, .LAS, .OBJ, .DXF, .GeoTIFF, and .RVT, compatible
with Revit, AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, and Pix4D, with no intermediate
conversion on your end.
What does your insurance cover if an incident occurs on site?
We carry $5M CAD in aviation and general commercial liability insurance.
The prime contractor can be added as an additional insured on request,
and the physical risk associated with the flight stays entirely on our
side.
How do the guarantees attached to each package work?
Each package includes a precise contractual guarantee: a full monthly
credit if our archive doesn't settle a progress dispute in your favor,
a 50% invoice reduction for a late LiDAR survey delivery, or a BIM
integration error handled at our expense. The details of each guarantee
are listed on the relevant package.
How do I start a project with AltiMetrix?
With a 20-minute consultation, by phone or video call, to identify the
moments where a drone genuinely changes your timeline and your budget.
We then propose the right package and handle the authorizations before
your first flight.
